Michael Lee Catching, 64, of Luling, Texas, died Sunday, June 8, at 8:48 p.m. Born on July 11, 1949, in Taylor, Texas, he was the son of the late B.C. and Lorena Faye (Wunneburger) Catching.

Michael was the owner of Catching Construction Company and worked for the City of Lockhart as the Code Enforcement Officer. He was an avid hunter and true outdoorsman. Oftentimes, he cou

ld be found smoking his pipe and reading a good book. Mike was a voracious reader and Southwest Texas graduate with a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Michael went by many names – Brother, Uncle, Father and Friend. He was the man to call when in need.

He is survived by his son, Robert Catching of Austin, Texas, and his brother Boyd Catching, Sr., and wife, Marilyn. Michael leaves behind his nephew Boyd Catching, Jr., and wife, Casey, and his nieces, Rebecca Catching-Foote and husband, Keith, Shana (Catching) Staton and husband, Jerry, and Melissa (Catching) Bohac and husband, Larry.

Funeral services for Michael Catching will be held at the Church of the Annunciation located at 301 S. Walnut in Luling, Texas at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday June 13, at O’Bannon Funeral Home, 210 S. Laurel Avenue, Luling, Texas. Burial will follow at Bateman Cemetery, Bateman, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Boyd Catching, Jr., Keith Foote, Jerry Staton, Larry Bohac, Cliff Sanderson and Jeff Sanderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Wunneburger, Dr. Richard Wunneburger, Eric Wunneburger, Douglas Wunneburger, Vance Rodgers, Shane Mondin, Ralph Gerald, Clay Etheridge, Nicholas Sanderson, Oluf Sanderson, Donald Brown, Billy Hoke and Robert Crocker.

    A truly honorable man who said what he meant and meant what he said. Impeccable integrity and honesty made him a perfect friend, if you were fortunate enough to have known him. If you knew him, you loved him. His presence was a blessing. Rest in peace Michael Catching. You will be sorely missed.

    I knew Mike when I worked for the City of Lockhart. I liked him very much and we always worked together well. Sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.
