Mildred M. (Evans) Anderson, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2010, after a prolonged illness.

Mildred was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Lockhart, Texas, where she lived for a number of years before moving to San Antonio. It was in San Antonio that she met and then married her husband, Richard W. Anderson on Dec. 28, 1946.

Richard preceded her in death as well

as several brothers and sisters.

Mildred is survived by three children: Lin (Jerry) Dickerson, Richard (Judy) Anderson, and Pam (Juan) Martinez; four grandchildren: Catherine Jaroschy, Gui Jaroschy, Ashley Anderson, and Chris (Jonathan) Lacey; and by one great-grandchild, Ethan Lacey. She will be greatly missed by her family and close friends, including her childhood friend, Mrs. Dean Culpepper, also originally from Lockhart.

Mildred worked at the downtown San Antonio Sears store for several years, where she sustained lasting friendships with many co-workers. Over the years, Mildred enjoyed many activities such as going to the beach, playing volleyball, taking her grandchildren on trips, bowling, cooking, working crossword puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, listening to music, reading and playing all types of board games.

After the death of her husband Richard, Mildred moved back to Lockhart. She had the pleasure of making wonderful new friends of her neighbors on Plum Street. She greatly enjoyed visiting relatives and getting reacquainted with old friends, and was especially happy to reconnect with her high school friend, Ollie Pruitt. Mildred and Ollie attended many local country western shows together and enjoyed listening to the live music performances with their friends. They also enjoyed going to plays at the Baker Theater and for drives in the area and eating out at many local restaurants.

Graveside services were conducted on Monday, June 21, 2010 for Mildred at San Fernando Cemetery No. III in San Antonio, Texas.
