Ruben Soliz Escobedo, 63, of Lockhart, passed away on July 12, 2015, at Seton Hays Hospital, in Kyle.

He was born in Lockhart on May 31, 1952, to Carolina Soliz Escobedo Diaz and Anastacio Escobedo, III.

He spent much of his life as a laborer in construction, and served his country honorably in the US Army. He was married to Alma McClenan.

Mr. Escobedo was preceded in

death by his father, and a granddaughter, Stacey Castillo.

He is survived by his daughters, Lou Ann Escobedo, Erica Escobedo Acosta and Christina Reyna-Castillo; son, Fernando McClenan; grandchildren: Magdaline Gabrielle “Gabby” Escobedo O’Briant, Christopher Joseph Reyna Escobedo, Jacob Ryan Acosta, Monica Lynne Acosta, Thomas Julian Acosta, Bridgette Marie McClenan, Fernando McClenan, Jr., Xavier Castillo and Scott Castillo; and great-granddaughter, Skyla Faye Escobedo. He is also survived by sisters, Lupe Lopez (Arthur), Gloria Cortez (Jesus), Aurora Gomez (Manuel), and Rosemary Norfleet, and brothers, Anastacio “Jr.” Escobedo, IV (Eva), Andy Escobedo, Rudy Escobedo, and many nieces and nephews, who knew him as “Uncle Grouch.”

The family will receive visitors at Deleon Funeral Home on Saturday, July 18, 2015, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. The military presentation of the flag will take place at 2 p.m., followed by rosary at 4 p.m. at Deleon Funeral Home, in Lockhart. A reception will follow at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

    I loved my son very much and I will miss him always. Even though I was not included in his obituary I was his Mother and he was a child.

    My condolences to the Escobedo’s family. Yes you will be miss but I like say your trade mark you let me with all this great music. Your in better place but forgotten. Rest in peace
