J.V.

Lockhart won in overtime to end their season by a score of 46-43.
The Lady Lions fell behind early. The Hawks were up at the end of the first quarter by the score of 16-8.
“I am not sure if the girls just underestimated them, were tired or what but I am glad they snapped out of the funk they were in,” said Coach Jones.
The Lady Lions outscored the Hawks 11-6 in the second quarter making the score 22-19 at the half-time break.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions were up by two points with 17 seconds left in the game. Instead of running the clock, the Lady Lions choose to shoot one more basket. Hendrickson grabbed the rebound and ran the floor to score with two seconds left, which sent the game into overtime.

Freshman
The Lady Lion freshman basketball team traveled to Hendrickson High School to challenge the Lady Hawks for their last game of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
This was the epitome of a see-saw game, which saw the Lady Hawks dominate the first quarter. After an intense huddle between periods, the Lady Lions ended with a 17-16 half-time lead.
“They were very efficient in the quarter and hit just about all of their shots against some tough defense,” said Coach Davis.
The fourth quarter saw one last momentum swing for the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions ran out of time and ended up on the wrong end of a 37-36 final score.
“Holding them to zero points in the quarter and making a run of our own really showed the competitive spirit this team has. There was no quit in us tonight. We just ran out of time,” Davis said.
Shelby Henrichs led the team in scoring and assists totaling 11 points (season high) and five assists. Victoria Aguilar netted 10 points, two steals and shared the team lead in rebounds, bringing down five. Vanessa Gonzales scored two points and pulled down five boards. Gabby Cox tallied seven points and contributed two rebounds while Ellen Lewis had her season high of six points and three rebounds.
“We had one of our best defensive efforts tonight but just couldn”t sustain it consistently for all four quarters. If we had had another minute or so, we could have come away with a victory, but I am still extremely proud of their effort and hustle tonight,” Davis added.
