Davis Davenport

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Davis F. Davenport; born to Frank and Josie Mae Davenport on Oct. 15, 1943, in Pasadena, Texas. Davis was a long time resident of Lockhart.

He spent most of his life in central Texas (San Saba, Menard, and Wimberley) as a rancher, electrician and jailer.

He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War i

n the 25th Infantry Division.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Davenport; his two daughters, Stacey Zamora and husband, David Zamora, and children James David, Sarah Grace and Emilia Caroline Zamora, and Donna Price and husband, Don Price, and children, Elizabeth Mae and Franklin Sterling Price; step-children Mallory Mitchell and husband, Trae Mitchell, and children Tanner and Tucker Mitchell, Ian Broderick, Justin Reed and wife, Sarah, Nathan Reed and wife, Ryanna, and children, Autum, Baycee, and Jett; and Matthew Gilliam.

Those who knew him will tell you that they never knew any one quite like him. His sense of humor, honor, duty, compassion and presence set him apart from the rest. He was a father, a husband, a grandfather and a friend. He was not a cowboy, he was “The Cowboy!”

He was Roy Rodgers, Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris and John Wayne all rolled into one. He was the man that other men wished they could be. He was the very definition of a “bad mamma-jamma!” This world is a lot less awesome without him in it.

Services were held at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015. Graveside services followed at Wimberley Cemetery.

Family received friends Monday night from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade in Lockhart.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
