The Lockhart Police Department recently announced that an area store was victimized by a late-night armed robbery early this week.
According to a public information release dated Jan. 30, an unidentified male suspect displayed a weapon and demanded cash from the register at Jones Food Mart at 1325 S. Colorado at around 2
:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The complaining witness, a Food Mart employee, reported that the male fled on foot after executing the robbery.
Lt. Chris Knudsen, the police department”s chief investigator, declined to release profiling information on the suspect.
“At this point, our greatest concern from a public information standpoint is to make sure that the citizens and business owners know that there has been an armed robbery, and that we are actively investigating,” he said.
Until the suspect is apprehended, business owners and employees in cash-based businesses are reminded to take extra precautions to protect themselves from becoming crime victims. Those measures include diligent use of safety equipment such as security systems and cameras, adequate staffing and constant attention to suspicious individuals in and around places of business.
Anyone with information about Tuesday”s armed robbery is encouraged to contact the Lockhart Police Department at 398-4401.
