The Lady Lions Varsity Softball team had been having some trouble getting into their games until last Wednesday, March 28 when they seemed to have gotten their groove back playing against the Lehman Lady Lobos. Previously, the Lady Lions had played against Steele and lost 6-1. Then they played against Samuel Clemens and lost 8-1.
/>
That all changed on Wednesday night when the Lady Lions faced the Lady Lobos in their second round of district play. The Lady Lobos never had a chance to get their game going while the Lady Lions brought in run after run.
The Lady Lions played well together and it seemed like they were coming together as a team. By the end of the fifth inning the Lady Lions had won 11-1.
It was obviously a good game for the Lady Lions and although it was a team effort, it didn”t hurt to have Jamie Schulle on the mound to strike out five batters and give up no hits. The Lady Lions did a good job covering the field as well as at bat. The hits for the Lady Lions came from Alyssa Gonzales with three hits, Adrianna Parra, Brandy Stacks, Krista Law and Janie Juarez with two hits each and Chelsy Martinez, and Schulle and Alisha Morales each with one hit. The RBIs came from six of the Lady Lions. Martinez had three RBIs, while Stacks and Law each had two. Juarez, Schulle and Morales each had one RBI.
The Lady Lions had a good group of fans out there cheering them on. I wonder if that had anything to with the outstanding win?
See you at the game.
