Jack W. Adkins
Jack W. Adkins, 76, of Lytton Springs, passed away in Austin on Sept. 5, 2007. He was born on Dec. 27, 1930 in Mountain Home, Ark. to Homer and Addie (Wilson) Adkins.
Mr. Adkins served his country in the United States Air force and was a member of the Del Valle Baptist Church. He retired from the Austin Police Department after serving for 30 years with the rank of De
tective.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary; and son, Larry McCarty.
He is survived by his wife Erline whom he married on Jan. 25, 1964 in Mountain Home, Ark.; his children, Billy Ferguson, Karen Wilson and husband, Bruce, and Eric Adkins, all of Lytton Springs; Peggy Reed and husband Wayne, of Dale; Debbie Tumlinson, Phillip Adkins and Douglas Adkins all of England; brothers; Frank, Gene, David and Bob; sisters, Cora Lee, Georgia and Syble, all of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Brandon Reed, Michael Reed, Robert Wilson, Bruce Wilson, Glen Dawson and David Strawn. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Williams, Brandon Adkins and Wayne Reed.
Family received friends beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at McCurdy Funeral Home.
Graveside services were 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at Lytton Springs Cemetery, Lytton Springs, Texas with Reverend Ron Danley officiating.
