Ruby Myers

Ruby Myers was born June 7, 1914, in Star, Texas to the late Reverend Luther Norman Myers and Katherine Elizabeth Myers. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce G. Myers, and by two sisters, Mattie Myers Hill and Norma Myers Dauchy. She went to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Oct. 2, 2007, in Brookshire, Texas at the age of 93.

st Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos, Texas for two years. She began a long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1938. After working there for 19 years, first as an office clerk, then as a business office supervisor, she transferred to Victoria, Texas, and worked another 20 years as a business office supervisor, retiring in 1977. She was a member and past-president of Credit Womens” Association, and she was a member and past-president of The Pilot Club. Ruby moved to Fentress in 1997 to help look after and care for her brother-in-law and sister, Joe and Norma Dauchy, while they were living in the Golden Age Nursing Home in Lockhart. After they both went to be with the Lord in 2002, Ruby continued to live at the Golden Age Nursing Home Assisted Living facility in Lockhart. In September 2003, she moved to Carriage Inn, an assisted living facility in Katy, where her nephew, Cullen Dauchy, could care for her. In September 2004, Ruby entered The Oaks at Brookshire nursing home due to declining health. Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fentress.
She is survived by three nieces, Janice Hill Buckalew of San Antonio, Marilyn Hill Ivy of San Antonio, and Mary Katherine Townsend of Rockport; two nephews, Floyd Myers Hill of San Antonio and Cullen Myers Dauchy of Katy; plus numerous great-nieces and nephews, including Sharla Dauchy Bell, Shanna Dauchy Marhofer and Sheryl Joy Dauchy.
Aunt Ruby will be greatly missed by a multitude of family and friends. Her funeral service was Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at the Fentress United Methodist Church in Fentress, Texas at 10:30 a.m., with the graveside service immediately following at the Prairie Lea Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Glover, Bob McMahan, David Marhofer, Ronnie Meadows, Vernon Townsend, and Michael Vordenbaum. Funeral arrangements were taken care of by McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas.
