The Lady Lions traveled to New Braunfels on Friday, Oct. 5, to face the Canyon Cougarettes for a second time this season. The Varsity Lady Lions lost 13-25, 8-25 and 12-25. The Junior Varsity Lady Lions lost 17-25 and 9-25. The Freshman Maroon Lady Lions team lost 14-25 and 23-25. The Freshman White Lady Lions team lost 12-25 and 21
-25.
The Varsity Lady Lions never seemed to get their game going on Friday afternoon. Perhaps the fact that they played first as opposed to last was a factor in their playing? The Lady Lions usually play at 7:30 p.m. after the Freshman and Junior Varsity Lady Lions have played their games.
The New Braunfels Canyon Cougarettes, on the other hand, came out swinging and scoring. They used their home court advantage to outplay the Lady Lions during every game. Their execution of plays was consistent and sometimes even brutal. The Cougarettes used every opportunity to win during each match and finished their game on top.
“We’re looking forward to the Lehman and Steele games this week and the return of Jenee Burrhus-Clay, injured for last game,” Head Volleyball Coach Melinda Kirst said. “I felt the girls really played New Braunfels tough the last two games and they could have gone either way. We are looking at ending the season on a winning note.”
The Varsity Lady Lions record is now 16-16. They played Lehman on Tuesday, Oct. 9, and will play Steele on Friday, Oct. 12. The Homecoming game is on Friday so the Lady Lions will play their game at 5 p.m. again.
See you at the game.
