Opal Holland
Mrs. Opal Holland, 80, passed away at Seton Edgar B. Davis Hospital in Luling on Nov. 5, 2007. She was born on Nov. 9, 1926 to William and Bonita Roberts Lackey in Dale, Texas.
She married her loving husband Thomas on Nov. 24, 1946, in Lockhart, Texas, and lived in Caldwell County all of her life. She was a life-long member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church.

he and Thomas were square dancers and danced with the Plum Creek Promenaders. Opal worked in education at the Lockhart Public School District before her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Carole Holland Peck of Austin, Joy Holland Giles of Austin, and Thomas Michael Holland of Lockhart; and one grandchild, Miranda Holland Peck.
A visitation was held at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 5 – 7 p.m. with family and friends attending. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Morris Roecker officiating. Interment followed immediately after at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
Serving as the pallbearers were Steve Peck, Ronnie Schulze, Tip Giles, Kenneth Schawe, Robert Johnson and Steve Talbott.
Opal Bernice Lackey Holland a wife of 60 years, a mother of three, a grandmother to one, a sister to six, an aunt to scores, and a friend to many was one of the most beautiful people that God graced this earth with. For those who knew her, they have been truly blessed. She was one of the kindest people the world has ever seen, who always put her family before herself. Even though in her last years, she was unable to communicate, she continued to express her love to her family with those beautiful blue eyes.
