Some area drug traffic hit a roadblock last weekend.
Working in connection with federal agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, narcotics detectives from the Caldwell County Sheriff”s Office made an arrest and executed a search warrant that yielded a treasure trove of drugs, guns and money.
According to re

presentatives from the Caldwell County Sheriff”s Office, several handguns, assault weapons and rifles were seized at the Dale-area residence during the March 28 search, along with body armor, $17,000 in cash, and nearly 115 lbs. of marijuana.
The weapons, body armor and some of the marijuana was found in the 33-year-old suspect”s closet. The cash was in a chest of drawers in his bedroom, and more drugs were found in the adjoining bathroom, under the residence and in one of the vehicles outside the residence.
From evidence observed by detectives and federal agents at the scene, including empty packaging and 31 empty military duffel bags, it is estimated the narcotics operation running from the residence had the potential to have moved more than $1.3 million in controlled substances in the recent past.
One suspect from the residence was wanted on an outstanding federal indictment out of Eagle Pass, Texas, and was taken into custody by the federal agents on a related narcotics charge.
Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel C. Law said an active investigation is currently being conducted by Caldwell County narcotics detectives and the Chisholm Trail Special Crimes unit. The investigation is focusing primarily on the assault weapons and the narcotics trafficking, and additional charges may be pending.
