Letters – Veterans council thanks students, schools
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the Board Members for the service provided by the Lockhart ISD, Air Force Jr. ROTC Cadets during the Caldwell County Memorial Day Ceremony, May 26, 2008.
These young patriots were a vital part in this presentation. They presented the National and State Colors, helped with the razing of the Armed Service Colors and
assisted with the wreath placement at our Service Memorial. Their very presence in their class “A” uniforms was a welcomed sight by all present. A special thanks to CPT. Bob Fiore for leading the “Pledge of Allegiance”. CPT Fiore and MSgt Mario C. Silva leadership and mentoring of these deserving young men and women is commendable. I have personally observed their developmental growth from this leadership program since their participation last November at our Veteran’s day luncheon.
It has been the goal of the Caldwell County Veteran’s Council, which I Chair and the Commissioner Court to Honor our service men and women both present and past especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice each Memorial Day. If you have not attended our ceremony after our guest speakers presentation it has been our custom to have the roll call of the veterans who lost their lives in these major wars and subsequent conflicts. This is a very moving tribute which we hold dear to our community.
I look forward to the Cadets participation at our Veterans Day Luncheon November 8, 2008 when Lockhart ISD will provide the host site at the HS Cafeteria.
Sincerely yours,
Tom D. Bonn
Caldwell County Veteran’s Council
