Lockhart’s Lions fed off the chants and cheers as they tore up the competition on the field, defeating the District 18-4A champs, Huntsville Hornets, 35-28 in a playoff thriller that wowed the fans from beginning to last second end.

“We are Lockhart! We are Lockhart! We are Lockhart!” was the resounding chant that echoe

d through the chilled air on the Lions’ designated side of the stands at Jack Rhodes Stadium in Katy on Saturday, Nov. 15, as the Lions earned their first playoff win since 1971.

As in previous games this season, the fans were an integral part of the team’s process. Their cheering kept the Lions fired up and plugging away throughout the entire game. The fans never let up and neither did the Lions.

When the first half ended in a tie at 14, both teams went to the locker rooms feeling euphoric. The fans joined in the jubilation as the players made their way into the field house. After the halftime shows, the teams came back to roaring crowds.

The game continued to provide a spectacular display of athleticism from both the Lions and the Hornets, but in the end, it was the sheer tenacity of the Lions that won the game. Both teams scored seven points in the third. The Lions scored 14 points while allowing only seven from the Hornets in the fourth ending the game at 35-28.
