Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to host banquet on Saturday
The Lockhart – Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005. The Master of Ceremonies will be Dr. Leticia Garza-Falcon, a former Associate Professor of English and Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado at Denver. Falcon is currently a professor with the University of Texas at Austin.
In addition, the newly
elected Honorable Henry Cuellar, U.S. Representative, (D)-Laredo, will be the guest speaker at the banquet. Cuellar”s district stretches from the Mexican border to Guadalupe and eastern Hays counties. He recently received an appointment on the House Agriculture Committee. His comments will include “rural areas where farming and ranching are very important.”
“This has been one of the most dynamic years of the chamber and the banquet will be an indication of that,” said Chamber President George Sanchez.
The Chamber will recognize and award several local businesses for their commitment, service and contributions to the community. These awards will include Hispanic Chamber Businessman of the Year, Hispanic Chamber Businesswoman of the Year, the Pioneer Award and the Orgullo Award.
The annual banquet will begin with a social hour from 6-7 p.m. with color guard and welcome at 7 p.m. Dinner will be served from 7-8 p.m. Congressman Cuellar will address the banquet beginning around 7:45 p.m.
