JV Lady Lions defeat Luling 42-39

The Junior Varsity Lady Lions hosted the Luling Lady Eagles at the Lion’s Den on Monday, Nov. 24 and defeated them 42-39.
The Lady Lions took an early lead, ending the first quarter with a score of 10-4 and the second at 21-16.
Briana Ortiz scored a three-pointer and Samantha Duncan scored twice under the net in the
first. A layup by Nicole Matteson and two quick scores by Isis Johnson in the second, kept Luling with a five-point deficit going into the halftime break.
Luling bounced back in the third, getting within one point from taking the lead, but strong rebounding by Duncan and another three-pointer by Ortiz helped the Lady Lions maintain the lead and finish with a 42-39 victory.
Shelby Kennedy led the Lady Lions in scoring with 10 points, followed by Duncan with nine.
The Lady Lions traveled to Austin on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to face the Austin Travis Lady Cavaliers and will travel to Halletsville to participate in the Halletsville Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 4 through Saturday, Dec. 6. Check next week’s Post-Register for scores, highlight and tournament results.
The JV Lady Lions will host Pflugerville Connally at the Lion’s Den on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
