J.B. McMahan
J.B. McMahan passed away Dec. 14, 2008, in Lockhart at the age of 89. J.B. was born on Oct. 17, 1919, in Caldwell County, to Sam Franklin and Johnnie Wells McMahan. His early years were spent in the area of Lytton springs and McMahan where he attended school.
In 1941, he married the love of his life, Edna Brock. In 1943 he joined the Navy and served honorably until
1946 during World War II.
After being discharged he worked in the oil industry, and they lived in several locations. When he retired from British Petroleum in 1982, they returned to Lockhart.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years; his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
J.B. is survived by one sister, Jean Foster, and her husband, David, of El Paso; sister-in-law Evelyn McMahan; several nieces and nephews, both McMahan and Brock; and friends and caretakers Barbara and Phil Henthorne.
Visitation was held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Funeral services were scheduled on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at 2 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Ron Scott. Burial followed at Jeffrey Cemetery in McMahan.
