The JV Lion baseball team resumed district play on Monday, April 6 against the Lehman Lobos.

Just like the weather, the Lions started off cold, allowing the Lobos to score early and often. In the first two innings, the Lions gave up four runs on numerous errors and only one hit, enabling the Lobos to take a 5-0 lead.

The Lions refused to let the game get fur

ther out of hand and began to chip away at the Lobos lead, scoring in the third inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Josh Flores.

The fourth inning brought on more of the same; singles by Joseph Garcia and George DeLeon plated two more runs and a two-run homer by Cody James tied the score at five.

The Lions continued their rally in the fifth.

After a leadoff single by Damian Natal, Tyler Crawford blasted an RBI double off the left field wall, scoring Natal. Garcia followed with an RBI double of his own. Dalton Dabbs had an RBI single, scoring Garcia then stole second and third bases before scoring on a wild pitch.

The Lions took the lead for the first time in the game, with the four-run inning putting them ahead, 9-5.

The Lion bats continued to roar in the sixth, capped off by a walk-off homerun by Will Rodriguez.

Strong pitching from Steven Lillian kept the Lobos in check for the final four innings of the game.

“The ‘never say die’ attitude showed once again,” Coach James Patton said. “This team believes in what it can accomplish when they remain focused and execute.”

The Lions ended the first round of district play with a record of 4-1.
