Lena Meyer
Lena Meyer, 68, of Lockhart, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Austin. She was born on Nov. 10, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas to Luther and Hazel (McRae) Rathburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Hazel Rathburn; step-father, James Anglin; and her sister, Myrtle.
Mrs. Meyer is survived by her loving husband, Jay Cecil Meyer; son, Al
an Meyer; grandchildren: Apryl Santana, Jayson Meyer and Alyssa Meyer; great-grandchildren: David Alan Serrato and Elijah Anthony Santana; brothers: Bobby Rathburn, Jimmy Anglin, Johnny Anglin and Jay Anglin; and sisters: Linda Redding, Marty Harris and Debbie Roberson.
Lena was a beautiful woman who loved and adored her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Many knew her as “Mimi,” as that is the name her grandchildren called her. She spent many of her day’s outdoors working in the garden, helping her husband around the yard, and taking her grandchildren swimming. She also had a passion for photography; she took her many wonderful pictures everywhere she went. Lena will be greatly missed and will remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
Family accepted friends beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 1, 2009, at McCurdy Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leroy Pennington officiating. Interment followed at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
