Armando C. Valdez
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Armando C. Valdez, age 73, of Del Valle, Texas, on November 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 29, 1950, in Austin, Texas, to Apolonio and Lilia Valdez (affectionately known as Apa and Ama).
Armando is survived by his devoted wife, Olivia M. Valdez, his loving sons, Armando Valdez, Jr., Chris and Erica Valdez, Eli Valdez, grandchildren, Lauren Valdez, Eliana Valdez, Christopher Valdez, Joe and Elizabeth Buantello, Jesse Marquez, Armando Valdez, III, Alyssa Valdez, Eli Valdez, Jr., Elisha Valdez, Christian Valdez, Maricela, Karyna, Fernando, and Kike Ramirez, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He was a proud sibling to his sisters, San Juana, Alisia and Diana Valdez, and brothers, Paul, Jr. (and wife Janie), Ismael, Frankie, and Marcos Valdez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Armando was a man of many passions. He was an avid Steelers fan, his heart forever draped in black and gold. He watched his beloved Steelers win his last Sunday with his family. Whether cheering on the team or sharing stories of their victories, his love for the Steelers was unwavering.
The great outdoors held a special place in Armando’s heart, as he found solace in the quietude of hunting and the peacefulness of fishing. These pursuits allowed him to connect with nature and create timeless memories.
During his final days, Armando was cared for by his devoted wife, Olivia Valdez, and his son, Armando, Jr. Their compassion and dedication provided comfort and solace during a challenging time, a testament to the strength of family bonds.
Armando’s life was enriched by simple pleasures. He was a skilled pool player, finding joy in the friendly competition and camaraderie. His face lit up in the company of his grandchildren, each moment spent with them a treasure to be cherished.
Armando was a man who valued the time spent with friends and family. His warm personality and love for socializing brought people together, creating a tapestry of memories that will endure.
Armando will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Eli Valdez, Chris Valdez, Armando Valdez, Jr., Eli Valdez, Jr., Armando Valdez, III, Christopher Valdez, and David Mendez. Juan Prieto, Jr. will stand as an honorary pallbearer.
Recitation of the holy rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at DeLeon Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
