Feliciano D. Briceño, known to many as Felix, was born to Ventura, Sr. and Maria Briceño on June 10, 1937, in Lockhart, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. With heavy hearts, we announce his peaceful passing on February 4, 2024, at the age of 86. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Described as a pillar of strength and a guiding light, Felix was the rock upon which his family relied. His devotion to his wife, Refugia (Ruth) Navarro Briceño, was unwavering throughout their blessed union of 64 years. Together, they witnessed the joys and hardships of life, their love serving as an enduring example for all who knew them. Felix’s children, Richard, Mary Ann, and Becky, were eternally grateful for his wise counsel, encouragement, and unwavering support. He was a father who instilled in them the importance of hard work, love, and compassion.
A man of deep faith, Felix found consolation and purpose in his devotion to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. His devout heart was a testament to the strength and solace he derived from his spiritual beliefs. Fishing expeditions and strumming the guitar brought Feliciano immense joy, moments he cherished dearly in the company of his beloved family. Possessing a quick wit and an infectious sense of humor, he had a remarkable talent for infusing laughter into every gathering, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
Feliciano’s innate curiosity and penchant for tinkering endeared him to the art of homemaking, where he found joy in the meticulous care of his surroundings. Instilling within his children the virtues of self-reliance and responsibility, he imparted invaluable skills in car maintenance and home repair, a legacy that shall endure through generations. His skill as a truckdriver was unparalleled.
Feliciano was preceded in death by his parents, Ventura, Sr. and Maria Briceño, as well as a son, Jesse Briceño, his sisters, Eustacia Prieto, Micaela Arriaga, and Eduarda Saucedo, and his brothers, Ventura Briceño, Jr., Jose Briceño, and Guadalupe Briceño. He was also preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Mendez.
His surviving family includes his beloved wife, Ruth Briceño, his children Richard Briceño (Alice), Mary Ann Morales (Isidro), and Rebecca (Becky) Ramos (Ben), his brothers Agustin Briceño (Mary), Gregorio Briceño (Nieves), and Margarito Briceño (Rosa), along with his 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, his memory shall forever be cherished.
A recitation of the holy rosary will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, also at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Ed Karasek officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Chapel Cemetery in McMahon, Texas.
