Tommy McDuffie
Tommy Neal McDuffie, age 73, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 23, 1936, to Tommie Ray and Althara (Skelton) McDuffie in Cass County, Texas.
Tom grew up in the piney woods of East Texas, exploring and fishing with friends and his brothers. He attended Linden schools, playing baseball in high
school. Tom graduated Linden High School in 1954 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. After serving four years in the military, Tom entered college on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University.
Tom was living in Dallas, Texas, when he met his future wife, Jane Malone, on a blind date. The couple soon married and eventually settled in Lockhart, Texas, where they raised their two daughters. Tom spent many loyal years at Central Soya Feed Company, after which he owned and operated Farmer’s Body Shop.
Tom supported his community with service in the Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Lockhart Hospital Board. He served his church as a Sunday school teacher and a trustee.
On many evenings and weekends, Tom could be found on the golf course. He was an avid and accomplished golfer, placing in several city tournaments. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was always up for a game of cards, dominoes, or a jitterbug or two.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jane McDuffie; daughters, Tracy Sole and husband, Anton, and Christy McDuffie and friend, Matthew Cerralvo; brothers, Donnie McDuffie and wife, Mildred, and Leon McDuffie and wife, Judy.
Tom was the proud “Grandad” to two grandsons, Anthony and Angelo Sole. Tom was blessed to have a multitude of supportive and loving family and friends.
The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at McCurdy Funeral home in Lockhart, Texas. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Lockhart, Texas. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to The Salvation Army – Lockhart, Alzheimer’s Association, Caldwell County Christian Ministries, the First United Methodist Church of Lockhart, or a charity of your choice.

Hi Tommy McDuffie is the great grandmother Mary Ann Frances “Fannie” Hall McDuffie is related to my husband Freddie Hall.. I want to thank you for posting this so it could be found.I am hopeing you will send a larger copy of the little thumb nail pic I could get.He sure dose look like most of the male McDuffie’s I have known. Freddie graduated from Linden -Kildae HS in 1959 and I graduated in 1962. We live in the Center Hill area, just east of New Colony.
