Fernando D. Rocha
Our beloved father, Fernando D. Rocha, 102, of Lockhart, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 16, 2010 in Austin, Texas. He was born on May 29, 1907, in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico, to Jose and Maria Duran Rocha.
Fernando was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Eusebia H. Rocha; twin infant sons, Regino and Seferino; 11 brothers and sisters; an
d several nieces and nephews.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Angie R. Gonzales (Robert), of Austin, Josie Sebastian (Luis), of Lockhart, and Mercy Castro, of Austin; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Fernando was very well known for his hard work and ethics. He worked for many years as a farmer in Martindale, Maxwell and Uhland. In 1965, the family moved to Lockhart, where he continued to work for the Fielders, the Glossermans, and many others. At age 92, he “retired” to help take care of his wife, who was ill. Even then, he would always be seen working in his yard.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Laurence for his many years of care for our dad; Frances Ramirez and Johnny Zuniga, who helped us take care of Dad at home in 2008; and the West Oaks staff, nurses, doctors, CNAs and to Angel Heart Hospice for all their care and support of our dad. Most especially, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Victor Mayorga, of Martindale, who visited our dad at home and Fr. James Martin of St. Paul’s in Austin for their spiritual care of our dad. Words cannot express our thanks to all of you.
Rosary was recited on Thursday, March 18 at DeLeon Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated on Friday, March 19, at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Martindale, with Fr. Victor Mayorga officiating. He was laid to rest at San Miguel Cemetery in Uhland.
