FORT WORTH — The Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) joined forces with the MW Cares Foundation and THE BIG GOOD today at TAFB’s Sid W. Richardson Foundation Agricultural Hub (AgHub) to combat hunger and provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need. This collaborative effort ensured that more than 2,000 families across North Texas will enjoy nutritious holiday meals this season.

The MW Cares Foundation, established by Pamela and Mitchell Ward, and THE BIG GOOD, co-founded by college football legend Coach Gary Patterson and Grammy Award-winning artist and Fort Worth native Leon Bridges, donated turkeys and chicken for distribution to families across TAFB’s 13-county service area. In addition, TAFB provided Thanksgiving staples, including fresh produce like cabbage, carrots, and apples, as well as dry goods such as cornbread, beans, and rice.

Mitchell Ward, a native of Caldwell County, and Coach Patterson participated directly in the event, helping to pack nutritious meals into delivery vehicles operated by local faith-based organizations for distribution across TAFB’s 13-county service area. These organizations will then deliver the meals directly to families facing hunger this holiday season.

The MW Cares Foundation evolved out of MW Logistics’ long-standing tradition of community involvement.

Recognizing the need for greater impact, Mitchell and Pamela Ward established the Foundation to provide meaningful support to those in need. The Wards believe giving back to the community is essential to ensuring individuals have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“This week we have served more than 8,000 families ahead of Thanksgiving through multiple events with TAFB, which would not be possible without everyone who helped make this happen,” said Ward, founder of MW Cares. “Today’s event has been a dream that the MW Cares Foundation has had and now to see where we are today, we are very appreciative of the way our community has come together.”

THE BIG GOOD is dedicated to addressing critical unmet needs in the Fort Worth area. Through annual events and community engagement, the organization supports local groups focused on hunger relief, education, and the arts.

“It takes a village to meet the need, and this event has grown every year,” Patterson said. “We are committed to doing whatever we can do to help uplift families for Thanksgiving.”

This marks the fifth consecutive year of collaboration between TAFB, the MW Cares Foundation, and THE BIG GOOD, highlighting their commitment to fighting hunger and supporting North Texas families during the holidays.

“This partnership represents the power of collaboration and community,” said Julie Butner, TAFB President and CEO. “Together, we are making a tangible difference for families who deserve to celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity and nourishment.”

As the holiday season approaches, TAFB remains focused on ensuring no family goes without a nutritious meal. With continued support from partners like MW Cares Foundation and THE BIG GOOD, TAFB has been able to provide holiday meals this Thanksgiving to thousands of households facing food insecurity.
