Constance Ann (Connie) Grigar (Janis)

Constance Ann (Connie) Grigar passed suddenly on March 24, 2025. Connie was born April 24, 1949 to John J. and Angeline Grigar in East Bernard, Texas.
Connie was born in East Bernard, Texas and grew up on the family farm there. After graduating from East Bernard High School in 1967, she attended Sam Houston State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Connie spent 40 years teaching as an elementary school teacher and dyslexia specialist.
She raised two children Caleb and Callie spending time with them riding bikes, camping, canoeing and fishing. After retiring from school teaching, she settled in Lockhart, Texas where she became a master gardener and raised her two dogs.
She also loved to read, especially science fiction. She was a talented seamstress and quilter. Connie handmade ornaments and gift bags for her children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren every year for Christmas. She was the fun Mom, Aunt and Granny making sure there were games and activities for the children.
Connie is survived by her 101-year-old mother, Angeline Grigar of East Bernard Texas; son, Caleb Grigar and granddaughter Kamryn Grigar; daughter, Callie Johnson and grandson Caius; brother J.J. Grigar III and wife Janet of Lockhart, Texas; brother Tim Grigar and wife Janice of Gig Harbor, Washington; sister Nancy Stewart and husband Ronnie of Geronimo, TX; and brother Ronnie Grigar and wife Julie of East Bernard, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
We hope her departure to heaven was like a ride on that space craft that she someday hoped to experience. We’ll miss her and her creative spirit. May she rest in peace.
A private burial was held on May 30, 2025 at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in East Bernard, Texas.
