As devastating floods swept through the Texas Hill Country earlier this month, communities across the nation rallied to provide support to those affected.

Among those mentioned in last week’s edition of the Post-Register, another group who has stepped up in a meaningful way was Clint Mohle and First Christian Church of Lockhart, who brought comfort and care in the form of an essential yet often overlooked item, socks.

Thanks to a partnership with Bombas, a company known for its mission to donate a pair of socks for every pair sold, Mohle was able to deliver 1,200 pairs of high-quality Bombas socks to first responders and volunteers working on the front lines of the flooding disaster.

On July 12, Mohle and his wife made the trip to Heart of the Hills VFW Post 1480 in Kerrville, one of the key coordination centers for relief efforts. Upon arriving, they joined the line of community members donating supplies, but the response to their contribution was particularly striking.

The Red Cross and other responders were “blown away” by the donation, dry, durable socks were exactly what workers in wet and challenging conditions needed most.

“I believe this is what being a good person would do if able,” said Mohle, emphasizing that the credit belongs as much to Bombas as to the community. “Bombas made it possible for First Christian Church in Lockhart to provide dry, new socks to the search and rescue workers and people doing work out of love and dedication to humankind.”

While the road to recovery for the Hill Country is still long, acts like this are a reminder of the power of compassion and community. With organizations like Bombas and individuals like Clint Mohle leading by example, hope continues to rise even in the face of extreme adversity.
