The Prairie Lea varsity volleyball team fought hard on Thursday night but ultimately came up short against Dime Box, falling in three sets: 25-19, 25-11, 25-21.
Prairie Lea opened the match with strong energy, keeping the first set close with scrappy defense and timely hitting. Despite their effort, Dime Box pulled away late with a steady serving run that gave them the 25-19 win.
The second set saw Dime Box take control early, using quick attacks and sharp defense to limit Prairie Lea’s scoring opportunities. The Lady Indians struggled to find rhythm and dropped the set 25-11.
Refusing to quit, Prairie Lea regrouped in the third set and battled point for point. The Lady Indians showed resilience at the net and tightened their serve receive, pushing Dime Box until the final stretch. However, a late surge by Dime Box sealed the set 25-21 and completed the sweep.
Head Coach Aleah Anderson praised her team’s effort despite the loss. “I am proud of the effort our team showed and the way they continued to hustle until the very end. Our JV team, made up mostly of freshmen, showed great potential, and I am excited to continue building with them in the years ahead. I am proud of all our athletes for their determination and growth,” Anderson said.
Though the loss was tough, Prairie Lea showed flashes of determination and teamwork, especially in the first and third sets. The Lady Indians will look to build on those positives as they prepare for their next matchup.
