Dr. Eugene Clark Library seeks book donations for upcoming sale

If you have books collecting dust on your shelves, the staff and volunteers at the Dr. Eugene Clark Library have a simple message for the community: we need books.
The library, located at 217 S. Main Street, is currently accepting donations for the upcoming Friends of the Library Book Sale scheduled for May 15, 16, and 18, 2026.
Community members are encouraged to donate gently used books in good condition. Accepted donations include adult, teen, and children’s fiction and nonfiction titles in both hardcover and paperback formats. The library is also accepting commercially recorded CDs, including music and audiobooks, as well as DVDs.
Library organizers say the annual book sale is an important fundraiser that helps support programs, services, and resources for the community.
While many types of donations are welcome, there are a few items the library cannot accept. These include damaged books with missing covers, broken spines, or mildew. Textbooks and outdated manuals related to computers, business, or legal topics will also not be accepted. In addition, encyclopedias, magazines, and VHS tapes cannot be included in the sale.
All proceeds from the Friends of the Library Book Sale go directly toward supporting the Dr. Eugene Clark Library and its mission to serve readers of all ages in the Lockhart community.
Those interested in donating items can drop them off at the library during regular business hours, or call (512) 398-3223 for more information.
