Fugitive apprehended through inter-agency cooperation
By Constable Paul Easterling

A wanted fugitive sought on multiple felony warrants has been safely taken into custody following a coordinated, multi-agency investigation. Burns, who has ties to both Gonzales and Caldwell counties, had apparently relocated a couple hundred miles away in an effort to avoid arrest.
During the investigation, the Caldwell County Constable’s Office Precinct 2 Warrant Division developed investigative leads, confirmed Brian Burns’ ties to the Luling area, and ultimately determined he had relocated a couple hundred miles away in an apparent effort to avoid arrest.
Working closely with the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, we shared investigative information that helped locate Burns, resulting in his safe apprehension during a traffic stop conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety in Colorado County.
Burns was taken into custody without incident, bringing the coordinated investigation to a successful conclusion. I want to thank the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office for their outstanding partnership throughout this investigation. We have worked together on numerous cases since I took office, and this case reflects the professionalism, trust, and cooperation that make those partnerships so effective.
Fugitives can change locations, but they cannot escape accountability. Our Warrant Division will continue working with our law enforcement partners to locate wanted offenders and ensure that the judicial process is allowed to take its course.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
