Mavis Langham

Mavis Louanne Evans Langham was called home to be with her Savior on Feb. 4, 2011, after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer (she never smoked).Mavis was 68 years old.

Mavis was born on Sept. 19, 1942, to Harold W., Sr., and Arline Evans in Harvey, Ill.

e that most only dream of. They were married on that same date in 1961, and shared almost fifty years of “True Love Ways.”

Since retirement, they have RV’d together all over the US and Canada enjoying nature’s grandeur.

Mavis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and enduring friend. She loved her children with an unconditional sacrificial love and dedicated her entire life to her family and friends. Mavis met life’s challenges with strength and determination. The joy with which she lived and the serenity with which she died were a witness to her remarkable spirit and her steadfast faith and shall long remain a shining example to all who knew and loved her. Mavis spoke honestly, loved openly, and would do anything for a friend in need.

Those left to cherish Mavis’ memory are her husband of 50 years, Thomas Langham, of Austin; her children, Jonathan and Shauna Langham, of Pflugerville, and Joanna and Joe Ternus, of Round Rock; her grandchildren, Courtney Mather, Rachel Langham and Lauren Ternus; her siblings, Gayle Farnel, of Lockhart, Billie Jo and Phil Casper, of Austin, Harold and Janey Evans, of Lockhart, Russell and Roxanne Boothe, of Wimberley; and many nieces and nephews, along with her mother-in-law, Ruth Ellis, of Reedville.

The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart. Funeral services were scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, in Maxwell, Texas, with Pastor Wayne Walther officiating, and interment following at the Lockhart City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all the loving support and countless prayers offered for Mavis during her illness, especially the loving and talented staff at Scott and White Hospital in Round Rock, with special thanks to nurses Brent, Lindsey, Kathleen, Rosemary, Irene and Rachel.
