Edith Hinsey Schneider
Edith Kathleen (Hinsey) Schneider, 85, a retired school teacher, of Lockhart died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, after a brief illness.
Edie was born on Dec. 1, 1925, to Roy and Ida Hinsey in Yorktown, Texas. She graduated from Yorktown High School and Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College. She taught elementary school for 30 years in Alice, Meyersville, Yorktown and Lockhart
until she retired in 1983.
In July 1948, she met Caldwell County whippersnapper Jack Schneider, of Lockhart, when he came to Yorktown to teach vocational agriculture at Yorktown High School. They were married five months later, on Dec. 26, 1948, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Yorktown. They were married for 62 years when Edie died.
She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church in Lockhart until her death.
Edie was preceded in death by her son, Paul H. Schneider, and her sisters, Melba Wolpman and Doris Mueller.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Schneider, of Lockhart; son, Chris Schneider and wife, Tricia, of Lockhart; daughter Jackie Westmoreland and husband, Brad, of Lockhart; grandchildren: Ben Schneider and wife, Maegan, of Leander, Kristen Schneider and husband, Dr. Jason Wang, of Atlanta, Ga., B.J. Westmoreland and wife, Erin, of Lockhart, Laura Schneider, of Austin, and Katie Westmoreland, of Austin. She is also survived by her great-grandsons, Kaiden and Kase Schneider, of Leander.
Visitation was held at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart on Wednesday, March 23 from 6 – 7 p.m. Services were held at St. Paul’s United Church in Lockhart on Thursday, March 24, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Carlson Jakubik officiating. Burial followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were: John Guess, Ben Schneider, Toby Mills, Jason Wang, Alton Mueller, B.J. Westmoreland, Kenny Mueller, Kraege Wolpman and Manroy Wolpman.
