Olan Thompson
On the morning of May 26, 2005, the sweet spirit of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, slipped away to join our Lord and Savior.
Olan Thompson was born to Emma Jane (Hemphill) and Cicero Pinky Thompson in Dale, Texas on Aug. 21, 1913. At a very early age, Mr. Thompson professed his faith in God, and lived a truly holy life, walking in His grac
e and love.
Mr. Thompson was a devoted member of Dale Corinth United Methodist Church for many years and, later, joined St. Mark”s United Methodist Church, when he moved to Lockhart. He was very active on the Trustee Board and a member of the Steward Board.
Mr. Thompson was united in Holy Matrimony on June 29, 1941, to Annie Mae Wells. To this union six children (three girls and three boys) were born.
Mr. Thompson leaves to cherish his memories and is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Annie Mae (Wells) Thompson; his six children: Tommie, and his wife Essie, Thompson; Ola and her husband Reed Orr; Olan Thompson, Jr.; James D. and his wife Dorothy Thompson; Linda Thompson-Bennett; and Wilma, and her husband Charles Duncan; 11 grandchildren: Donyale and Eric Thompson, Sonya Richardson, Gregory, Tisha, Michael and Michele Thompson, Bethany and Byron Duncan, Jamelle and Jaimee Bennett; four great-grandsons: DeAndre Thompson, Tony Richardson, Jordan Thompson and Trashard Haywood-Ockleberry; and one sister, Eleanor (Lena) Butler. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter, Serena Dawn Thompson, and one grandson, Kevin Wayne-Ockleberry.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. May 28, 2005 at St. Mark”s United Methodist Church with Rev. Foster Roberts officiating. Interment followed in Hooks Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gregory E. Thompson, Eric A. Thompson, Roderick Thompson, Michael R. Thompson, Howard Thompson, and Robbie Wright.
