Junior Varisty Team
The Lockhart Lion junior varsity football team met the Dripping Springs Tigers at the Lion Stadium on Thursday evening, Sept. 29.
The Lions struggled to maintain their undefeated record as the skilled Tigers overwhelmed the Lions in a shutout game, 30-0.
“We had some early turnovers and costly penalties that resulted in scores for Dripping Springs,” Coach Brad Vickers said. “The team continued to play hard and came out with an impressive drive in the second half; however, we stalled inside the ten yard line. It was a tough way to lose because we really stopped ourselves tonight. However, we have to bounce back and get ready for district competition which begins next week.”
The loss gives the Lions a 3-1 record to enter district play. Their next game will be against the Taylor Ducks away on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m.

Freshman “White” Team
The Lockhart Lion freshmen “white” team ripped the Dripping Springs Tigers apart, 22-0, on Thursday night, Sept. 29.
The Lions” powerful running attack, composed of Adam Renteria, Zach Leija, Rodney Carter, Ricky Rodriguez, and Matt Tienda, left paw prints all over the Tigers as they racked up 180 yards rushing.
The defense was equally dominating, allowing only two first downs the entire game. This is the third consecutive shut out for the Lions” defense.
Paul Juarez and Joseph Herrera were team captains.
