Elgin defeats Lady Lions

The Lockhart Lady Lion varsity volleyball team met the Elgin Lady Wildcats at the Lions” Den on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for the start of the second round of district play.
The young Lockhart team, composed mostly of undergraduates, hustled on the court but couldn”t overcome the skilled Elgin team. The Lady Lions fell short in three gam

es to the Lady Wildcats with scores of 25-13, 27-25, and 25-21.
Contributing to Lockhart”s score were Ashley Moore, Venoris Carter and Natalie Raemsch with two aces each.
Leading the Lady Lions attacks at the net was Kelly Witte with seven kills and Krystal Laws with 13 assists.
On the defensive side, Witte contributed two blocks and Brianna Hinnenkamp hustled to the floor making nine digs.
The Lady Lions currently have a 1-6 district record with their next match being on the road against Vista Ridge on Friday, Oct. 7.
The last time the Lady Lions met the skilled Vista Ridge Lady Rangers on the court they lost in three games.
“Vista Ridge is a very disciplined team that takes advantage of their height difference,” said Head Coach Bernice Voigt.
