Annie Sefcik Sassman Karnstadt was born to Tom Sefcik and Annie Filla Sefcik on Aug. 9, 1928, in Taylor, Texas. She attended school, from the first through the eighth grade in Taylor. She was first married to Thomas “Victor” Sassman, Sr., on Feb. 14, 1946.

The Lord blessed this marriage with five children: Nancy (Smith), Gordon (Sassman), Thomas Victor (Sassman), Jr., Gr

ace (Jeffrey), and a stillborn son (unnamed).

Victor Sassman passed away in 1963, so Annie finished raising their four children, until they finished school and were out on their own. On June 23, 1973, Annie was married for a second time to Mr. John L. Karnstadt, who died in 2010.

Throughout her lifetime, Annie resided in Taylor, Austin, Pilot Knob, Buda, and for the past 30 years in Uhland, Texas, John”s hometown.

Annie was a hardworking mother and housewife who cared deeply for her children and saw them through many difficult times.

Annie loved to cook and bake (having once won a trophy for her baking skills). She loved to go dancing with John to good old country music. She was also very linguistically gifted, having spoken Czech, Spanish and English.

In addition, she was a member of the VFW Women”s Auxiliary and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Uhland, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith by Rev.

Roger Hotopp.

On Nov. 12, 2012 at 1:50 p.m., it pleased the Lord to call Annie to her Eternal Home in Heaven. She was 84 years  young. She had been a resident of Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in San Marcos, Texas, at the time of her passing.

Annie is survived by her children Nancy Smith and husband, Edward, Gordon Sassman and wife, Janice, and Grace Jeffrey and husband, Roy. She also survived by grandchildren: Charlie Powell, Curtis Smith and wife, Tammy, Randa Bishop and husband, Mike, Travis Sassman and wife, Tiffany, and Barret Sassman. Finally, she is survived by great-grandchildren: Christopher
