Wesley Richard “Dickie” Daniels Jr., 79, of Luling, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013.

He was born June 18, 1933 in Luling, the son of Wesley Richard and Ruby Leona Berry Daniels. He was a graduate of Luling High School, Class of 1951. He served with the Texas National Guard. He married Crystal Edna Johnson June 4, 1954 in McMahan,Texas.

He owned and operated his o

wn family business, a Zenith TV and Stereo dealership for many years in Luling, known as Daniel’s Radio and TV Sales and Service. Later, he added a Radio Shack franchise.

He was ordained as a minister by the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of McMahan, Texas, in October 1959. He served Bethel for 28 years, from February 1960 to February 1988. He also served churches in Florence, Quemado, Austin, Gonzales and Nixon.

He served as moderator of the Southwest Texas Association from July 1969 until July 1975. In June 1988, he reorganized the Luling Primitive Baptist Church and served as pastor.

He made four evangelistic trips to the Philippines with several other Primitive Baptist ministers.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Daniels, of Luling; daughter, Melody Gail Daniels, of San Antonio; sons: Dwayne Clark Daniels, of San Antonio, Wesley Paul Daniels, of Luling, and Bradley Scott Daniels and wife, Kim, of Luling; sisters: Elizabeth Katherine Vanderhoof, of Luling, and Gladys Joy Hanson, of Lockhart; brother, William Frank Daniels and wife, Deanie, of Groves, Texas; and grandchildren: Wesley Lee Daniels, Jessye Lane Daniels, Colton Clark Daniels and Linzi Nichole Daniels.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the O’Bannon Funeral Home. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Luling Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Joseph Weyel and Vince Hardy officiating. Burial followed at the Luling City Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Jimmy Toungate, Larry Toungate, Craig Toungate, Luther Toungate, Edward Toungate and Norman Daniels. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons Colton Clark Daniels and Wesley Lee Daniels.

    Pastor Daniels was a wonderful Godly man and loved be so many. He was very special to my family, my parents and my husband and I. We had our wedding at his Church in Luling and it was truly a blessed day. He and his family will forever be in our hearts and prayers. Love to all and our deepest felt sympathy.
