Fred Logan Thomas, 88, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, at his home following a brief illness. Known by everyone as Logan, he was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Luling Texas, to parents L.G. Thomas (father) and Priscilla Hodge Thomas (mother).

After his school years, Logan entered military service (U.S. army) in 1944.
Upon completion of his military duties, he married Geraldine Hardem

an in the spring of 1947, and this union was blessed with three children.
Logan worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years in several different capacities but his many years as a locomotive engineer was his true railroading passion.

Logan is survived by his three sons, Logan Thomas, Jr., and Gerald Thomas (Pocatello, Idaho) and Billy Ray Thomas (San Antonio, Texas), and three grandchildren, Aaron Michael Thomas, Vanessa Thomas and Logan Anthony Thomas. He later met and married Francis McGauhy, a marriage that lasted more than 30 years.
The family would like to thank close friends, Robbie Robinson, Darnell Evans, Bobby McCullom, Cal Mercer, and Brandon Bonner who only knew him as uncle Logan, for their kindness and friendship. Also, a special thanks to his bridge playing partners at the Pocatello Senior Center and Quail Ridge Retirement Community for their companionship.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho, with Pastor William Beard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday evening, and from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow services in the Mountain View Cemetery, with Military Rites by the Pocatello Veterans
Honor Guard.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542.
