The newest jewel in Lockhart”s growing economic development crown will be a three-story hotel located on Highway 183 South.
Construction workers broke ground last week for the new Best Western, which will be located on Highway 183 at Cunningham Road. The three-story structure will boast 42 rooms, including long-term gues
t suites. It will also have a pool and a spa, according to project developer Umesh Patel, who also has hotel holdings in Austin.
Patel hopes the hotel will be open in December.
According to Lockhart Economic Development Director Sandra Mauldin, the hotel structure and parking will occupy only a portion of the property set aside for the development.
She suggested that plans might be in the works for a retail space or a restaurant, but could not confirm any plans at this stage.
Best Western claims to be the largest hotel chain in the world, with each property individually owned and operated.
Lockhart continues to attract business and growth, including the upcoming opening of Margarita”s Tortilla Factory and a Serta Mattress Factory, and the recent announcement that world-renowned hat-makers The Texas Hatters will soon relocate to Lockhart.
