Phyllis Conner
Phyllis Jean Conner passed away in Plano, Texas on Aug. 8, 2014, after a long, valiant struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
The middle child of three daughters, Phyllis Jean Fannin was born to Charles and Lena Hodges Fannin on Aug. 1, 1940 in Victoria, Texas. Phyllis spent her childhood years in South Texas and graduated from Mercedes High School in 1958. She attended Texas
Woman’s University and Southwest Texas State University.
Phyllis married Glenn Conner, Jr. on Nov. 25, 1960. She and Glenn had two sons, Michael Wayne and Patrick Lee. For the next four decades, Phyllis and Glenn made their home in central Texas, living in San Marcos, San Antonio, Austin, and finally, Lockhart. After retiring in 2010, she moved to Plano to be near her son, Michael, and sister, Dorothy.
Besides being a world class daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, Phyllis held a number of professional roles including Bank Officer, Investment Officer Administrator, and Orthotist.
Phyllis was quiet, deeply caring, and fiercely supportive of her family and loved ones. Phyllis selflessly took on the role of caregiver, first for her mother and later her husband, when their health declined. She enjoyed gospel music, gardening and jigsaw puzzles with her grandchildren. She also had an unquenchable sweet tooth.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, Glenn (2000).
She is loved dearly and will be missed by her grandkids, Kaitlyn, Matthew and Rachel; sons Patrick and Michael; daughter-in-law Vanessa; and sisters, Annette Ward and Dorothy Jones.
