Donna Ann McClary, a resident of Lockhart, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2024.

Donna is preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Livengood Gassenmayer, her stepfather, Paul Gassenmayer; her treasured aunts and uncles, Edith Marie and Ansel Satterfield, Margaret and George Beaver, Joyce and Edgar Bock, and Gail and Tom Robinson, as well as cousins Roger and Edith Marie.

Devastating for her family, Donna leaves behind her daughters and their families, Allyn Marie and James Terry, and their boys, Gavin, Braden, and Weston, Katelyn and Cody Farmer, and their children, Kennedy and Graham, Megan and Sean Smith, and their son, Bennett, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Sue McClary, and their children, Jessica, Logan, and Sean. Donna also leaves behind her cherished cousins Amy, Suzanne and Margge, many beloved friends and her fur babies.

Donna was born on October 5, 1958, in Idar-Oberstein, Germany to Rebecca Livengood Gassenmayer and Alvin Jack McClary. She spent her formative years in Del Valle, Texas before settling in Lockhart in 1985. She was deeply devoted to Lockhart, possessing a profound knowledge of its history and her family’s deep-seated roots in the community. She dedicated countless hours to the Brock Cabin committee and the Caldwell Country Historical Commission, where she shared her passion for learning about her family’s history.

Donna’s compassion extended beyond humans to animals. Known for her acts of kindness, she often stopped to assist strays in need. In recent years, Donna fostered numerous dogs and volunteered her time transporting dogs from kill shelters to safer environments up north.

Above all else, Donna’s love for her family was unparalleled. Alongside her mother and brother Kevin, Donna formed an unbreakable bond, tackling life’s challenges together as a team. Donna poured the love she learned from her mother into her own three daughters, always prioritizing their happiness and well-being. Her greatest joy came from being a mother and later a “Honey” to her grandchildren. Donna’s daughters and their families will ensure her memory lives on, sharing stories of her love and devotion.

While Donna’s family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with loved ones in heaven, they will long for the memories that were never made. Her kindness and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Services for Donna were held at McCurdy Funeral Home on May 11, 2024 in Lockhart, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Lockhart Animal Shelter in her name.
