Kenneth “Buddy” Dunn Shuler
Kenneth “Buddy” Dunn Shuler passed away on June 20, 2006.
Kenneth was born in Yoakum, Texas, to the Late Nixon Ellis Shuler and Helen Dunn Shuler on Oct. 11, 1926. He grew up in Gonzales, Texas. Kenneth served in the US Military with the Army-Air Force while stationed on ship in the Philippines. Kenneth was also a Veteran of World War II. He attended the University of
Texas and Austin Community College.
After the War from 1946 to 1963, Kenneth worked with his father as a TV repairman in Gonzales, Texas for Shuler TV and Radio. He was instrumental in bringing the first television set to Gonzales in 1950, were the local public watched their first ever live televised wrestling match.
In 1964 he moved his family to Dallas and a year later he moved to Austin where he spent most of the remainder of his life. Kenneth worked for St. Austin”s Catholic Church as their maintenance man for over 20 years.
Kenneth enjoyed traveling to many places throughout his lifetime such as Missouri, Louisiana, Arkansas, California, Oregon, British Vancouver, Michigan and New York. He enjoyed all types of music, including Broadway Musicals, opera and big band music, and enjoyed following the stock market and NASDAQ.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Hellen Shuler Fanelli, son-in-law Charles Fanelli, and granddaughter Lily Rose of Cortland, N.Y.; son, Keven Shuler, daughter in-law Christine Shuler, grandson Sean, and granddaughters Ashley, Heather and Savannah; brothers Dr. and Mrs. Ronald L. Shuler, or Sedelia, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. David W. Shuler of San Antonio; and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Shuler of Huffman Texas; sister-in-law Mrs. George Shuler, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother George N. Shuler and a sister, Patricia Shuler.
A viewing was held Friday, June 23 from 1 – 9 p.m. at the Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas.
A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, followed by interment at the Gonzales Cemetery.
