A.L. Fisher, 92, of Hot Springs died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his home. He was born on Nov. 22, 1916 in Red Rock, Texas, to the late Oscar and Annie Lentz Fisher. He retired with J.C. Penney’s Stores after 42 years of service. He had managed several Penney’s locations in Texas, New Mexico and Arkansas, with the Hot Springs store being his last management position. He wa

s an Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Texas and the Downtown Rotary Club in Hot Springs.

He is predeceased by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Martha Fisher; two sisters, Mazie Loggin and Nelda Stephens; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Murphy.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Don Kelley and Ardell Fisher, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Elizabeth Ann and Dennis Kitsinger, of Marion, Ark., Wanda Kay Fisher, of Olive Branch, Miss., and Kathie Sue and David Nash of Hot Springs; one sister, Adele Clayton, of Dale, Texas; five grandchildren: Kayla (John) Shiplett, Melissa Fisher, Keri (Bill) Earwood, Jessica Nash and Justin Nash; and three great-grandchildren: John Shiplette , Joshua Shiplette and Ethan Earwood.

Visitation was scheduled on Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. in the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel in Lockhart, Texas with Lynn Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockhart City Cemetery.

Serving as the pallbearers will be: David Nash, Justin Nash, Don Fisher, Melissa Fisher, Kayla Shiplette, John Shiplette, Greg Barker and Wesley Baker. Honorary pallbearers were: Jessica Nash, Dennis Kitsinger, Keri and Bill Earwood, Kenneth Sneed, Frank Baker, Dr. Charles Lawrence, Brad Simon, Tony Gonzales, Hugo and Lenora Hemme, Dr. Michael Mullins and Hamilton West Family Clinic Staff, staff of Garrett Manor, Clyde Clayton, Conrad Olendorf, Joe Fischer, Luther Storch, Larry Vincent and Robert and Norma Hemme.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
