Arthur Paul Masur, Jr., 83, passed away on May 17, 2012 in Harlan, Iowa, where he lived for the past few years. He was born on Jan. 24, 1929, in Lockhart, where he resided most of his life until moving to Harlan.

He was a Korean War Veteran who was seriously wounded by enemy gunfire and hand grenades during fighting in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his dischar

ge he worked at the Coca-Cola bottling works in Lockhart for many years, and then was employed by the City of Lockhart in the water works department until his retirement.

Art is survived by his wife, Bernice Masur, of Harlan, Iowa; his sister, Mildred Masur Murray, of Modesto, Calif.; his sister, Norma Masur Baker, of Lockhart; his nephew, Scott Murray, of Modesto, Calif.; his niece, Lynn Murray Yoder, of Waterford, Calif.; and his niece, Lisa Baker, of Lockhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur P. Masur, Sr., and Mildred Winkler Masur and brother, Paul Joseph Masur.

Services were held Monday, May 21 at St. Michael”s Catholic Church in Harlan, with a mass of Christian Burial and Military Rites at the St. Patrick Cemetery in Neola, Iowa.

Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
