Barbara Tumlinson
Barbara Ann Boone Tumlinson, 69, of Fentress, passed away Dec. 31, 2010, in Austin, Texas. Barbara was born June 8, 1941, in Poteet, Texas, to O.J. Boone and Genevina Scales Boone.
She married James Thomas Tumlinson on Nov. 28, 1959, in Freer, Texas.
Barbara was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Aransas Pass Order of the Eastern Star, she had served as a Rainbow L
eader and had been an active member of the Capano Baptist Church, a church she and her husband helped build. She was one of the founders of the Capano Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Eagles Club in Rockport.
Barbara assisted her husband in their business, B&J’s Sanitation Company. At the age of 50, Barbara went back to school and fulfilled one of her dreams by graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State University in 1998. She was a very loving and caring woman and used her degree to help others by serving as a teacher at the Lockhart Correctional Center.
Barbara Ann is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, James Thomas Tumlinson, of Fentress; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Ann Tumlinson Leach and husband, Gary, of San Antonio, and Sue Alice Morris and husband, Paul, of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law, James Edward Tumlinson and wife, Wendy, of San Antonio; sister, Lela Palmer and husband, Wilbur, of Pleasanton; brother, Lee Boone and wife, Janie, of Freer, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tommy Lee Tumlinson; and a sister, Mamie Moore.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 4, 2011, in the Fentress United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Harwood Cemetery Assn.
Arrangements were under the care and direction of O’Bannon Funeral Home.
