Special to the LPR

The annual Basketball Shootout at Clear Fork Elementary School was a big success last week, raising $8,748 to purchase library furniture for the school.

Last year, Clear Fork raised $6,100 at the Basketball Shootout, which was used to purchase new playground equipment.

The shootout, held at the Lockhart High School gymnasium, is the largest fundraiser of the year hosted by the Clear Fork Elementary Fan Club.

There were 25 shooters, including Clear Fork Elementary teachers and faculty, CFE students, and community leaders. First Lockhart National Bank sponsored the shooters’ t-shirts. Rob Ortiz of Big As Texas Sounds was the DJ and emcee.

Winners from the event were as follows:

Most Free Throws, Adult — Jacob Salas (representing Riley’s BBQ)

Most Free Throws, Student Category — Jaden Rodriguez (CFE 5th grader)

Overall Winner and Most Money Raised — Danielle Bowers (CFE 4th grade teacher)
