Caldwell County gears up to chase grants

Citing a need to ensure Caldwell County gets the money it needs to keep pace with population and business growth, its commissioners on Monday voted to authorize the county to seek the services of a grant coordinator on a contract-only basis.
While the Caldwell County Commissioners Court could decide to add a permanent grant coordinator when the next annual budget is approved, the temporary move allows the county to go after a community block grant that would assist with a potential economic development project that remains confidential under a non-disclosure agreement between the county and the other parties.
