Carlos Muñoz Sr.

Carlos Muñoz Sr., of Lockhart, TX, was called to his eternal resting place, Thursday, July 16, 2020, on his eighty-sixth birthday.
He was born in San Marcos, Texas, on July 16, 1934 to Nicolas and Emilia (Moreno) Muñoz.
After marrying in Rensselaer, Indiana, Carlos and Maria returned to Lockhart and he began his career as a loyal employee of the City of Lockhart Parks and Recreation Department. He retired in 1999 after forty-one years of dedicated service. Carlos spent his days tending to his lawn and garden, canning his harvests, tinkering in his garage and passing on his knowledge to his grandsons. This past year he even began to learn a new trade alongside his youngest grandsons, welding.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maria Muñoz; son, Alfredo Muñoz Sr. of Lockhart, TX; daughter, Rachel Muñoz of Lockhart, TX; daughter, Alicia Alex (Frank) of Kingsbury, TX; and son, Carlos Muñoz Jr. of Lockhart, TX; grandsons Luis M. Gomez III, Joe Gomez, Felix Juarez, Alfredo Muñoz Jr., Richard Juarez, Jeremy Juarez, Xavier Muñoz and Paul Muñoz; brother Richard Muñoz; sisters, Janie Silva, Enedina Velasquez, Leonor Trelles, Paula Afala and Eva Macker. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Rose Muñoz; brothers, Juan Muñoz, Alberto Muñoz; and sisters, Francisca Muñoz, Rosa Teneyuque and Catarina M. Trelles.
A visitation was held at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas, Sunday, July 19th beginning at noon with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 pm. Funeral service were held the following day July 20th at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 205 W. Pecan St. Lockhart, Texas. Pallbearers will be grandsons Luis M. Gomez III, Joe Gomez, Felix Juarez, Richard Juarez, Jeremy Juarez and Xavier Muñoz.
