Mr. Charles Henry Balser, a lifelong resident of Lockhart, died Aug. 14, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Balser was born in Lockhart on Sept. 11, 1926 to Ed Balser and Nora Schulz. He was united in marriage to Peggy Joyce Balser June 16, 1952. His wife preceded him in death on March 26, 1993.
Mr. Balser served as a messman in the Merchant Marine. He started in the new

spaper business by working at the Lockhart Post-Register and then moved on to a 20-plus year career as a printer with the Austin-American Statesman.
He is survived by his son, David Balser of Lockhart; one grandchild, David Lee Chariez of Lockhart; three brothers, Bob Balser and wife Jackie of Scottsdale, Ariz., Stanley Balser and wife Maxine of Lockhart; and, Clarence Balser of San Antonio.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2006 with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Flores, Russell Moore, Ed Jarrett, Mike Tate, Paul Hardwick and Joe Kelley. Interment followed in the Bunton Cemetery.
