Charles Allen Wilson, better known as “Chuck” or “Charlie”, was born on Sept. 17, 1928, to Fannie

Mae (nee Pinckard) and James Wesley Wilson on the family ranch in Coke County near Blackwell, Texas.

He passed away on Nov. 1, 2012 at Seton-Hays Hospital in Kyle, Texas, having lived his life to the

fullest for 84 years, one month, and 15 days. As a child growing up in We

st Texas, he enjoyed exploring the

countryside astride his favorite horse, “Old August,” and also developed a love for hunting and fishing. He

attended the Blackwell Schools and had fond memories of playing six-man football on a field full of

“goathead” stickers. In 1945, Chuck dropped out of school and enlisted in the US Navy at age 17, serving

in the Pacific aboard the USS New Jersey, Bremerton, Topeka, and Amsterdam. After receiving an

honorable discharge in 1947, Chuck completed his high school education and also continued to serve his

country in the US Naval Reserve from 1947-1952 and the Texas National Guard from 1953 – 1963.

On Sept. 19, 1949, Chuck married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Storey and their union was

blessed with two sons, James Owen in 1951, and Phillip Allen in 1952. After several years of working as

a gas station attendant and police officer, Chuck began working for the Veteran”s Administration

Hospital in Big Spring, Texas. He transferred to Palo Alto, Calif., in 1960, to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1963,

and to Austin, Texas, in 1966, where he was among one of the first groups to train in data processing for

the VADPC. His jobs ranged from programmer to supervisor of the Paid Department. He retired in 1983

after 35 years of federal service.

After his first marriage ended in divorce, Chuck married Ruth Ann Petrosky Hickey on Jan. 1, 1980.

Although they were never blessed with children, Chuck graciously shared his growing family with her for

nearly 33 years. He devoted his retirement years to his family, football (Longhorns and Cowboys),

gardening, hunting, and fishing at their cabin on Lake Buchanan until an auto accident in 2002 left him

partially paralyzed. No longer able to work in his big garden, Chuck quickly adapted to “container”

gardening and continued to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Although his mobility was very limited and he

was often in pain, Chuck continued to have a sense of humor, a kind and loving heart, a gentle spirit, and

a ready smile for everyone he saw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, James Curtis Wilson and sister-in-law,

Geraldine Butman Wilson.

He is survived by his current wife, Ruth Ann; first wife, Terri; sons, James (Shirley) and Phillip (Diane); grandchildren Whitny Emma (Brian), Clint Wilson (Theresa), David Wilson, and Cody Wilson (Sara); great-grandchildren Kira, Tristan and Adrienne, Emma, Justin Dixon, Braden, Aaron and Ashlyn Wilson; brothers-in-law Donnie Petrosky (Sherila) and Alton Petrosky; numerous nieces and nephews and their children; and a multitude of friends.

At Chuck”s request, his body will be cremated and no formal funeral service will be held. A

visitation/memorial may be scheduled in the future.

Arrangements under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche St., San Marcos, Texas 78666, (512) 398-4791.
