Christine Gallaher Michie was born Nov. 8,1917 in Braggadocio, Mo., to the late Corbin and Jessie Mae Gallaher, and died Nov. 7,2011 in Lockhart, Texas.

A graduate of Braggadocio High School, Christine, also called “Cricket” due to herboundless energy, married the love of her life, Joe B, Michie of Steele, Mo.

The family lived in Steele, Micola, Kennett, and Caruthersville, Mo., and later in Tucson, Ariz., and Blytheville, Ark.

Christine was known for her cooking, especially her tamales, roast beef, and iced tea, and for her love of entertaining on tile dining room table she made in the house she designed.

During her later years she moved to Lockhart, Texas, to be near her son and family, residing in the Parkview Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, and her brothers, Raymond Gallaher and Toby Gallaher.

She is survived by her sister, Allie Mae Nelson, of Ozark, Mo.; brother, Charles Gallaher, of Denver, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Teresa Gallaher, of Caruthersville, and Ruby Gallaher, of Cold Stream, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Julie Hawkins Michie, of Lockhart; her grandchildren, Anna Brock of Matthews,

N.C., Dr. Allen Michie, of Austin, Texas, the Reverend Michael Michie, of McKinney, Texas, and Christine Harriett Zelazny, of Eagleville, Tenn.; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Lupe Salinas, her best friend, and Lisa Hamilton and Rosa Lujan, caregivers, for their loving care.

Services are pending with H.S. Smith Funeral Home, Caruthersville, Mo., with burial planned in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
